Coste Della Sesia 2022
Lean and linear in profile, yet with a long, lingering finish.
Grape varieties: Nebbiolo 40%, Croatina 50%, Vespolina 10%
Production area: Northern Piedmont/Alto Piemonte, from the estate's own vineyards in the municipality of Villa del Bosco (Roasio)
Vineyard characteristics
Altitude: 380 meters above sea level
Exposure: South / Southwest
Training system: classic Guyot
Soil: acidic-pH soils made up of porphyritic rock and volcanic scree, with red and violet tones
Vinification: Carful hand selection in the vineyard / destemming–crushing / classic temperature-controlled fermentation to preserve the aromas with pump-overs; malolactic fermentation.
Aging: Stainless steel for about one year before bottling.
ABV: 13.5%
Tasting Notes: Expressive Alpine herbs on the nose (juniper, pine), alongside red cherry, rose petal, and subtle tar. On the palate, there’s a continuation of the dried herbs and sour cherry, met with bright acidity and minerality. Lean and linear in profile, yet with a long, lingering finish.
