Bramaterra Riserva 2018
“Lean and linear on the palate, with some subtle minerality and plenty of lift.”
A blend of 70% Nebbiolo, 20% Croatia, 10% Vespolina. The vineyard sits at 380 meters above sea level and face South and Southwest. The vines are Guyot-trained.
Soil: Acidic-pH soils made up of porphyritic rock and volcanic scree, with red and violet tones.
Yield: 55 quintals per hectare (5,500 kg/ha).
Vinification: Selection in the vineyard / destemming–crushing / classic temperature-controlled fermentation to preserve the aromas, with pump-overs; malolactic fermentation.
Aging: 3 years, of which 24 months in wood (2,700-liter cask – “botte grande”) and then one year in bottle before release.
Tasting Notes: Expressive Alpine herbs on the nose (juniper, pine), mixed in with violet flower and subtle tar. Lean and linear on the palate, with some subtle minerality and plenty of lift. Though it’s from 2018, it still has plenty of vibrancy and life left.
